Hi there! Casey, here. Casey D. Sibley Art + Design is a Lansing, MI, design studio specializing in hand-drawn and hand-painted artwork for textiles. I design colorful and bold fabrics for homegoods and personal accessories, meant to be used daily and inspire a happy life. My goal is to bring you products that are not only functional, but also beautiful and well-made.
Each new design begins as a sketch or painting, and the artwork is made into repeating patterns for digital textile printing (I teach online classes on this process here!
). Every print and pattern is my original creation and each product is cut and sewn in Lansing by me (with occasional help from local seamstresses when things get busy).
My products are produced in short runs locally to reduce unused inventory and material waste, and fabric scraps are donated to local schools, crafters, and organizations for reuse in new projects (you can contact me at email@example.com if you are interested in having fabric scraps donated). The sewers I work with work from home, allowing them flexibility with their work while offering a helping hand with the thousands of CDS A+D products going out each year.
Digitally Printed Fabrics:
I use Spoonflower to digitally print original designs onto fabrics (learn more about their eco-friendly printing practices here
). This method allows us to quickly print yardage on heavy weight fabric that is used for the sewn products in the line. This printing method is versatile, low-waste, and uses non-toxic water-based inks that are vibrant and permanent for a very high-quality product.
Originally from Mississippi, I moved to Reno, NV, in 2011 with my husband, Alan, and our two adorable pups, Scout and Hux. This business was started shortly after our move, when I started selling artwork online while searching for a "real job" in my first career of architecture. I've been cultivating a livelihood around my creativity ever since!
These days, I run Casey D. Sibley Art + Design full time from Michigan, a huge personal goal realized. Over the last couple of years, the business has evolved so much. I started out just wanting to create something. Following that urge to create and being open to discovery and change led me to where I am today.
In 2016 I ran a successful Kickstarter campaign to raise money to cover the costs of exhibiting my products at the NY Now Trade Show. You can see the campaign below!
